Patong is considered the best area for tourism, shopping, and the nightlife, which means the majority of hotels are located there. Patong is quite a fair size, so it is important that your hotel is near the area where you intend on spending the majority of your time. Inner Patong is home to Bangala Road, which is known for the vibrant nightlife and shopping facilities. Bangala Road also leads to the island’s most visited beach. The majority of Patong’s hotels can be found on the outskirts. The advantage of staying in Patong’s outer region is that it will be quieter and more lavish. So, when looking for a boutique hotel Phuket, consider Patong, as many of the hotels are within walking distance to the popular destinations, making them convenient as well as saving you money on transport.

Karon and Kata

Although Patong is the tourist hotspot of Phuket, the loudness and busyness of the city will not suit everyone. So, for those who prefer a quiet place to stay, but still want to be close enough to visit Patong, Karon and Kata are the towns you should consider. Both towns have gorgeous beaches, which will be less crowded, as well as a selection of shops and restaurants. It will take around a 30-minute drive to get to Patong.

Bangtao Bay

Bangtao Bay is a secluded area located in the north of Patong. A wide range of luxury hotels can be found in this scenic part of Phuket. Accommodation here offers guests a tropical holiday that is completely self-contained as the hotels cater to their every need. The Laguna resorts are prominent among this area. A network of lakes connects the establishments and the Laguna Phuket Golf Club can also be found here. On the south of the beach, there are many hotel options outside of the Laguna complex.

Kamala is a large beach resort which is around a 20-minute drive north of Patong. Compared to the towns of Karon and Kara, tourism isn’t as much of a priority here. This means there are fewer people here, which can make the area feel more laid back. Some people do find Kamala too quiet, whereas others look for an escape like this as they can enjoy the calmness while still having access to a decent variety of shops and restaurants. Many family-friendly resorts can be found in this area. Kamala is also the location for the famous Fantasea show.

When visiting Phuket, it is clear that there isn’t a lack of places to stay. So, whether you’re planning a family getaway, a relaxed trip with the other half or a party holiday, there is sure to be something for everyone on this beautiful island.
